Director

 

David Simonia assumes the esteemed role of Director at the Legal Aid Service of Georgia, commencing from March 8, 2023. Prior to his directorial appointment, David have been seen as the Deputy Director of the same organization. Notably, from 2019 to 2022, he spearheaded the Analytical Division of the Legal aid Service. Between 2010 and 2019, he served as a distinguished lawyer for numerous public agencies dedicated to safeguarding and promoting human rights.

During the years 2010 to 2012, David Simonia assumed the role of Director at the "European Law Students Association Georgia (ELSA)". Simultaneously, in 2012, Simonia embarked on a new position by joining the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he served as an inspector-investigator within the esteemed Criminal Police Department. From 2012 to 2013, Simonia's expertise and dedication led him to the role of investigator within the Imereti Regional Division of the Central Criminal Police Department at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 2013-2014, he further contributed to the fight against corruption as a senior operative within the anti-corruption agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Building on his extensive experience, Simonia joined the ranks of the State Security Service as an investigator of particularly important cases within the anti-corruption agency from 2014 to 2019. Simonia was appointed as the head of the analytical department at the LEPL Legal Aid Service, a position he held from 2019 to 2022.

In 2011, David Simonia successfully completed his bachelor studies at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Faculty of Law. In the year of 2019 David obtained masters degree at the same institution. Currently, he is actively pursuing his doctoral studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

David is actively  engaged in teaching activities in several higher educational institutions. He is an author of a number of publications and papers.
